Chaplain Painting Update
I've been working hard to finish this month's painting project for my local GW. The models need to be in the store by 12/22 since the shop will be closed on Christmas and the two days preceding it. However, I'm leaving the state for four days say I'm in a little bit more of a time crunch.
I've been painting diligently to get this bad boy churned out. I must say, I am impressed with how it's turning out. It just needs a few more highlights and some weathering then it will be done. I should be able to knock that out tonight without a problem. Then I can start working on some of my own models. I've been neglecting my Tactical Marines.
As far as some of the challenges I found in painting this model, white is a fickle color to deal with and black is hard to give depth. I was really worried that my painting style and technique wouldn't do a White Scar bike justice, but looking at the near finished product, it looks great and I am very impressed. It kept that gritty comic book feel to it and looks like it were ripped out of some Frank Miller graphic novel.
The black armor on the Chaplain was definitely a challenge. Black is one of the hardest colors to paint in my opinion. It needs to have layers of shading without looking to dark or too light. This is a skill and color I need to work at, especially since I play an army where a third of the units have black armor. Through a lot of inking and highlighting, I was able to get decent looking black armor, though it definitely has room for improvement.
Pictures to come!

Back in Black!
It's been a while since I've posted anything on my Blog. A lot has been going on in the past few months between getting married and buying a house. Things are finally settling down and I've been able to get back into the hobby.
Last month, the Escalation League started up again at my local Games Workshop and I was able to get some good games in using my Dark Angels. Last month I was able to get back into painting and even won the monthly painting contest at the store by submitting a Razorback. This month's contest is being done Secret Santa style. I drew a White Scar player's name so I've thrown together a Chaplain on a bike for him. I'm really happy with how the model has turned out so far and I am looking forward to painting it up. I'm even thinking of making a similar model to add to my Dark Angels.
As far as progress on my Dark Angels, I've been hard at working building and painting up a solid core. However, to keep myself from getting bored or burnt out, I've been building and painting one model at a time and painting whatever the mood strikes me at that time. It's worked out well so far. I've been able to put a few miniatures out that past month, including a Whirlwind, Razorback, and a few Tactical Marines. I have a primed Dreadnought from Assault on Black Reach that I am going to paint up after I finish painting the Chaplain.
More to come!

March Painting Contest Update
I've been working on painting a Chaos Space Marine Terminator for my local Games Workshop's monthly painting contest. As of last night I was able to get all of the base colors down on the model and ink it. I am very pleased with how it's turning out. It's a pleasure to focus on one model at a time as opposed to painting up an entire squad. You get to see the results much faster.
